Vaujany

I recently experienced the perfect ‘Hygge’ holiday, picture log fires burning, hot mulled wine, and relaxing with friends under blankets (well…when we weren’t surrounded by snow!). A group of sixteen of us went skiing for the week, which was booked and organised through Ski Peak.

Vaujany, a small village near Alpe d’Huez, would be home for the week, and we arrived at our chalets in La Villette to the inviting smell of freshly made cookies and tea – time to switch off!

The next morning, we woke early and enjoyed a scrummy breakfast before heading off to the main station to ride the first lift up into the mountains. I felt a mixture of nerves and excitement as I hadn’t been skiing in a few years, but once I was up in the fresh air and stunning scenery there was no stopping me.

I’ve been looking for nice, affordable ski gear for what seems like a lifetime, but this year I was in luck. After researching, I found a lot of brands have ventured into this area. I wanted items that were transitional and made to last, as just like all kinds of fashion, trends change, and quality sometimes doesn’t live up to expectations (and I wanted an outfit that would last me a few years). This trip I definitely nailed it! I do find myself getting cold, and even though it was bright sunshine without a cloud in the sky, it was still -7 degrees, so I wore a cosy three layers. You can find all my outfit details below.

After a perfect first day of skiing (and finding our feet), we slowly made our way back to the chalet. Waiting for us again was warm tea and delicious cake, and we ended the evening with candlelit baths and a 9-course meal curated and explained to us by our own chef. It’s a hard life!

Thank you so much to all of the Ski Peak LINK https://www.skipeak.net/ team for organising the most amazing trip AND for making us feel so welcome. It was truly an unforgettable holiday.
